Editors and Frightened Rabbit added to T in the Park

As work on the T in the Park site continues at pace in preparation for 85,000 music lovers turning the festival into Scotland’s fifth largest town for one weekend in July, a trio of additions are added to the 2010 bill.

Fresh from supporting Snow Patrol at their Bellahouston Park show in Glasgow at the weekend, chart-topping Editors return to Scotland on Friday 9th July to play the Main Stage at T in the Park. Renowned for their stirring lyrics, emotional vocals and striking live performances, the critically acclaimed British four-piece will make their fourth T in the Park appearance.

Also joining Editors on the bill at Bellahouston Park on Saturday were one of Scotland’s hottest bands, Frightened Rabbit, who will play the King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent on Saturday 10th July. Lady Gaga completes second album

Lady Gaga has downed tools on her second album but you will have to wait until January to hear it.

She told Rolling Stone that “I’ve been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it’s finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don’t. I write music every day.”

The title for the record is being kept a closely guarded secret. Gaga says she will reveal the title at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

The ‘All the Lovers’ hitmaker – who has been dating model Andres Velencoso since October 2008 – realised her current relationship was strong because of the way the Spanish hunk was able to cope when he joined her on the road.

Kylie Minogue : ‘There is a big test with me and boyfriends. It’s when I am on the road because that’s when it’s most difficult.

‘Andres was around for a bunch of the North American tour dates. And I didn’t have to worry about him.’

Iron Maiden stop at Houston Space Center

Metal legends Iron Maiden took a break from their North American tour to pay NASA’s Houston Space Center a visit this week.

Members of the band were given a tour by Astronaut Michael J. Massimino which included a look at the newly developed Saturn V Rocket, a glimpse at the space shuttle and a go at the shuttle simulator.

‘We appear to have a lot of fans at NASA, and it was a real pleasure to meet some of them, especially, of course, a bona fide astronaut who has made a number of space walks,’ singer Bruce Dickinson said of the visit. Read the rest of this entry »

Katy Perry and Russell Brand have had matching tattoos.

The couple – who got engaged while holidaying in India in December, just under three months after they started dating – have had Anuugacchati Pravaha, a Sanskrit phrase which means ‘go with the flow’ etched onto the inside of their right arms.

Though it is unclear when the pair had the tattoos, Russell showed his off on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, while the ‘California Girls’ singer revealed hers for the first time yesterday (15.06.10) when she performed at the launch of the Volkswagen 2011 Jetta car in New York’s Times Square. Slipknot in hibernation after death of Paul Gray

Doubt has been cast over the future of Slipknot following the death of founder Paul Gray and co-founder Corey Taylor going back to Stone Sour for the next two years.

Taylor told Billboard that he will spend the next 18 months working with Stone Sour. That will include a new album and a world tour.

Paul Gray died from a drug overdose last month in an Iowa hotel. The last Slipknot album was released in August 2008.

Paul McCartney plays Jimi Hendrix tribute

Sir Paul McCartney closed the Isle Of Wight festival on Sunday with a classic set peppered with Beatles numbers and a tribute to the late rock god Jimi Hendrix.

Playing part of the classic ‘Purple Haze’, recalled the legendary guitarist who died 40 years ago and memorably performed at the IOW festival a few weeks before his death.

“I was really lucky to know Jimi and hang out with him a bit in the 60s,” said his Fabness. “He was a great guy. The biggest tribute we had from him was when we released ‘Sgt. Pepper’ on a Friday. I went to see him on the Sunday and he had learned it. Read the rest of this entry »

Lily Allen hopes to ‘fade into oblivion’

The 25-year-old singer – who recently said she was giving up her music career to focus on a new fashion venture – says she hopes her future will see her being less and less involved in public life.

Lily Allen : ‘I hope in a year’s time I’m not gonna be asked to awards and I won’t be nominated because I haven’t put anything out there. And hopefully I can fade into oblivion.’

Discussing her plans for the next year, the ‘Not Fair’ hitmaker says she plans to have children with her boyfriend Sam Cooper and stay away from the limelight.
